This was written quite a few years ago for a creative writing class at a local college. I spent the first several decades of life being this person and therefore associating with like minded people, of course. I’d say this was the very beginning of the wake-up call that was telling me I wanted to do more, be more.
They First They murdered the dragons, then They killed the childhood. Then They polluted the water to go with the polluted air. They sit in their easy chairs, and watch the evening news, say, "Isn't that a pity?", then close their eyes and snooze. When someone asks a question, point blank and face to face, They look to the left and then to the right to find an answer that's right. They always have an opinion but They never know what to do. "Isn't it a pity"? 'They' are me and you. -Pearl E. M.
