Do you what know Journey’s song, “Anyway You Want It” is about??
I’ve always prided (?) prouded (?) (hmmm . . . maybe I need to take more english classes!) on knowing what a song means. Ever since this song came out in 1980 I thought it was another rock song about a guy gloating about an easy lay – a woman who’d do anything at anytime for any reason for him.
I decided to look up the meaning several days ago and was surprised when the first post said it was about love. A guy is professing his love, telling his woman he’d do anything for her (not just sexually) and he knows she’d do the same for him. I went back and reread the lyrics and there really isn’t an overt mention of sex, and there is a line where the man does say he’d do anything for her, too.
I just went back and tried to find Steve Perry or Neal Schon’s (the song writers) explanation again, and still couldn’t find their words on the subject. I did see other opinions more akin to the first impression, (a man’s first experience with a prostitute), as well it’s about a healthy physical relationship (not necessarily about love), and others that reiterate it’s about love.
What do you think?
