Welcome! Good to meet with you!
Here’s one more thought about hope that was previously written for my GLP group . . .
A beautiful place in Tennessee called Onsite Workshops, a personal growth/emotional wellness retreat center, offered a 30 day online version of their most popular workshop called ‘Living Centered’. Because of hope I, and about a thousand others, took this class.
I’ve been to Onsite a couple of times in the past for other programs they offer. The last time I went the CEO, Miles Adcox, generously granted me some one on one time so I could ask him some questions. I had to push myself to go because I didn’t believe I deserved to take up some of this extremely busy man’s time, and I figured he knew it would be a waste of his. But you know what? He genuinely treated me as his equal and with the dignity and respect I deserved. This man has been on shows like Dr. Phil and his compassion and dedication has helped heal hundreds of thousands of people from around the world, including sports icons, famous actors, musicians, aaaand . . . me. Yes, small town me!?! Every person is truly welcome there.
For the course five or six different Onsite leaders/therapists made 5 or 6 videos each on different themes. There was also a reading to meditate on and an assignment each day. After each part of the lesson we had the opportunity to post messages about what we learned and notes to other participants, most of whom have never met and probably never will. Every message posted was emotionally honest and/or kind and supportive of each other. Every one of them.
One of topics Mr. Adcox spoke on was Hope. My response to one part of the lesson was wondering how to tell if what I’m experiencing about certain issues was hope or just wishful thinking. Mr. Adcox took the time to private message me to say, “Hope is not naive or whitewashing the situation. Hope is open handed.”
Miles Adcox’s mission is the epitome of what we could all do to some to degree if we held our hope, mingled with humility and love, in open hands. Not only would we be open to receiving copious more than we could ever imagine from a generous God, but we’d be perpetually offering it all to others until they can claim their own.
Dear Heavenly, almighty, all loving Abba, please make us humble instruments of Your love and healing. Cause us to plant seeds of hope in others so they, too, may have their hands and heart opened to experience the Amazing Grace You have for them just because they dare to believe and choose to receive. In Jesus name, Amen.
Hope to meet you back here on Tuesday, when Grace begins to tell us her story. (Please refer to the tab on the Hope Page titled “Cast of Characters In My Mind” to learn a little about Grace.) Hope you have a good weekend!
