“Go For Soda” by Kim Mitchell works well with this week’s post because I do that frequently in my own life, but in a different way than the song means. (That’s explained (maybe!) in the post that’s not finished yet.) The tune is about how instead of getting into heated arguments (or worse) with others, walk away from the situation until everyone has a chance to calm down. Have always loved this song, was so glad to be reminded of it when I saw my favorite local band’s version of it on their website. It was perfect timing because I had just put up the post (12/14/21, “Forgiving Myself”) about taking on the guilt of others and finally letting it go. The post mentioned surviving the abuses of childhood, then having a friend in high school who killed a fellow schoolmate, and then later married (and divorced, thank You, God!) a guy that threatened to kill me. The song reminded me, not all men are like ‘them’, some DO know how to restrain themselves and treat others with dignity and respect, even when they’re ticked off and/or tempted to harm in some other way and no one important is looking.. Thank you.

  1. In our family we remind each other to use the “gulp system”. That means when someone hits your hot button, you take a gulp and don’t respond until you calm down. It helps in our hot headed family.♥️
